The New Zealand Election This week in KidsedchatNZ, we are talking about the upcoming New Zealand election. New Zealand's next general election is taking place on 23 September.   Q1: What is an election? What type of election do we have in New Zealand? An election is the process to choose someone to be their political leader or representative in government . In NZ we have a democratic election. This week we are celebrating being a New Zealander and all the beautiful cultures that we have here in NZ.  Questions : Q1. Where were you born and how long have you lived in NZ? I was born in SA and I have lived in New Zealand for a year now. Q2. What languages can you speak? or what language would you like to learn and why? I can speek english and a little bit of japenese, indonesion, spanish, maori and french but I would love to learn japenese and french fully. Q3. What are the best and worst things about living in NZ? MY WHANAU STORY “Mum you have to smile!” Grandma rolled her eyes and shot a cheeky grin at the camera. Mum looked at the camera’s photos and rolled her eyes. “Come on your taxi’s here”, Mum sarcastically whispered to Grandma. Grandma’s legs turned to noodles and her stomach was twisting and turning. She grabbed her bags and slowly opened the door. Cool, damp air poured into her flat and her porch light flickered to life. A small fly buzzed around her as she made her way to the gate. Grandma threw open the gate to be greeted by the taxi driver. His light above the car shone in her eyes, blinding her for a second, but she carried on touching the handle for the car door. She handed her bags to the driver and jumped in the vehicle.   The car reeked like chocolate and the seats were hard, but she didn't care. Mum waved her goodbye and the taxi roared to life.
